About the Choir
Värinä Chamber Choir (in English ”Vibration” or, pun intended, ”In Colour”) is a mixed voices choir located in Helsinki, Finland. The singers share a passion for singing and a love towards (high class) choral music.
The Choir was formed in August 2013, when a group of well-experienced choir singers wanted to create a new home for their singing activities beyond the student choir years. For the thirty singers choral singing is a joy and a passion. In June 2019 Värinä received golden diplomas and highest points and was the winner of the chamber choir category in the International Anton Bruckner Competition in Linz, Austria. In year 2017 Värinä received two golden stamps, the highest award that year, in Tampere Vocal Music Festival.
The Choir prepares for concerts by working on average twice a month, usually on Monday evenings. The repertoire consists mainly of classical choral music from centuries ago up to today. Open-minded to many kinds of music, Värinä has also sung e.g. on the album 'Survive' from the well-known power metal band Stratovarius. We want to share our enjoyment and pleasure of choral music with both experienced audiences and new, curious listeners. You are warmly welcome to attend our concerts!
